A Colorful Playdate...Sort of!

I am so fortunate to have a creative friend right here in our compound!! Today, Karen and I got the kids together so they could make a mess with paint on all of her recyclables!! She was so sweet to host this playdate!! It was pretty funny because we both had high hopes that the kids would use the big boxes to make houses or boats and then stick the little boxes and paper on them to decorate. We were hoping they would create their own indoor playspaces to use over the next few weeks while we wait out winter!! My boys decided that the paint was just too messy (wonder where they get their analness from?!!). They went off in the other room and raided the toys. Karen's girls, on the other hand, loved the paint and pretty much painted themselves instead of the boxes!! Thank goodness for washable paints, but so much for our creative children!!
Karen and I were giggling today about how we would never bring a huge fruit platter for a playdate back in our home countries, but here, we both take turns bringing one. It is really simple, I let ayi know in the morning that I need her to go to the fruit and vegetable market (which she goes to almost everyday anyway) and buy fruit. Then I have her wash it up and cut it by 4:00!!
We also had a special visitor today at our playdate...Bailey, Eens and Sophie's class "pet". Eens was so happy to have him come home today, we even had to brush his teeth!!
